DNS not working after resuming saved Linux guest system

I'm using a Linux Lite (Ubuntu) VM on a Windows 10 host system. I use to close the Virtualbox window from the File menu and then select "save machine state". But then, when I resume the guest system the network is unreachable, as DNS does not work anymore. I tried to setup both NAT and host only adapters, but neither works.

Steps to reproduce:

1. From the menu, choose File -> Close -> Save machine state
2. Switch off host system
3. Reboot host
4. Launch Virtualbox
5. Restore saved guest system

Networking in Linux guest does not work: network addresses cannot be resolved by DNS.

The only way to restore DNS and connectivity is by clicking the network icon on the Virtualbox bottom status bar, disconnecting the NAT virtual adapter (host only never works) and then reconnecting it back.
