Unable to run gdb in FreeBSD guest => fixed in SVN/next 7.0.x maintenance

Reported by: xtof Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox-7.0.6
Keywords: FreeBSD gdb Cc:
Guest type: other Host type: Mac OS X

Guest OS and Version: FreeBSD 13.1
GDB version: GNU gdb (GDB) 12.1 [GDB v12.1 for FreeBSD]

Any attempt to run even the most minute program under gdb results in an immediate error, as follows:

(gdb) r
Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap.
Trace trap.

It does not matter what the program is or does, the error occurs immediately and is consistently the same as above.

This should be fixed in the next 7.0.x maintenance release. There is a 7.0 testbuild available here, would be great if you could give it a try.

I have run a quick test: the problem seems to be gone and gdb seems operational now.

Hi xtof,

We just released a new version of VirtualBox today. This issue should be fixed there. Closing it. Please leave a comment if it is still actual for you. As usual, builds are available on Downloads page. Thank you for reporting.
