Restore current snapshot checkbox missing when closing down the VM

Description

This was really useful, I used it almost every time I shut down the VM, total pain having to do it, then restore the last snapshot, then say I don't want to create a new snapshot... please add it back, guard it with an option that you have to turn on to enable it if you must but PLEASE put it back

+1 Just add a 4th option below "Switch off guest" and make it "Restore most recent snapshot". And voilà :-)

One more vote to put back the Restore current snapshot checkbox. This is a MAJOR time saver when debugging large scripts such as installs and machine deployments. It is the option USED by me over 90% of guest closes!

+1, please add this option back. Like vbuora1 said, if too many careless people screwed themselves over, add an off-by-default setting that needs to be enabled for the checkbox to show up.

+1 Please add this option, I use a lot of VMs for simple tests, so whenever I'm done I want kill and restore to the latest snaphot by default. Thank you for your work

+1 We use this option for a frozen-state user front-end for a data-base program, where we don't want a users modification to carry forward. Each time the VM is started it needs to be restored to the original state for the next use. We need restore on shutdown, not restore on startup. Effectively, deletion of this option makes V7.0 unusable for our application, and we've stuck on V6.1.

Replying to DaleCoba:

Each time the VM is started it needs to be restored to the original state for the next use.

FWIW, you could use 'VBoxManage setextradata "VM name" GUI/DiscardStateOnPowerOff 1' then, which should have the same effect as the old checkbox being permanently active.

I'm aware that this is not a preferred solution for a lot of users who want to use both checkbox states more often, but it works if you want an always on/off behavior.

Hi guys,

VirtualBox 7.0.8 was just released and available at https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. This issue should be fixed there. Could you please give it a try?
