Latest 6.1.35 Guest additions can not be installed in Windows 7 vms. Cause Bluescreen

Reported by: frg Owned by:
Component: guest additions/x11/graphics Version: VirtualBox 6.1.34
Keywords: Bluescreen Windows 7 Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description

Title says it all. If you mount the 6.1.35 revision 151572 iso or the one provided with the 6.1.35 revision 151573 the Windows 7 vm will get a bluescreen. Tested with x86 x64 and Server 2008 R2. Same if you you copy the files to a shared folder any try to install them from there. The exe files seem to trigger it. Installing the 6.1.34 version works.

Windows Vista based Server 2008 x64 also affected.

Hmm looks like a 7 bug. Also crashes native hardware in the case a Thinkpad W530 with 7 x64 installed. Wonder if it is because of the new sha1 Virtualbox 2022 certificate used for signing.

The 6.1.36 and latest 6.1.37 test isos no longer cause the bluescreen so I think time to close this bug. Not that it got much attention...
