Description
hi Team,
While importing the OVA file into Virtual box, an error in being popped up with "VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004):Disk has no extension" I already verified, of having the disk with its proper extensions in .ovf file. But still having the issues whereas when I import the same ova file in VMware, it did worked at its pace and can start the VM. Please help on this asap ?

hi,
This is what I get in terms of error description "The target disk 'C:\Users\sanch\VirtualBox VMs\castiron-virtual-appliance\rel_apimgmt-disk1' has no extension ." while importing an OVA file in the virtual box. However, when the same ova file was imported in VMWare it did started and imported successfully.
Attaching the screenshot for your reference.

Hmmm... seems like no one else has run into such an issue for a while.
The quick workaround is selecting the 2 disk image entries in the GUI and add an extension. Your preference if you append .vdi or .vmdk respectively. After that the import should work just fine.
Arguably VirtualBox could handle this automatically, but this behavior is unchanged for so many years without any issue reports that it's rather odd that you found one appliance with such unusual disk image names.

Hi,
Yes, I tried the same behavior and I was able to import the OVA file successfully. Thanks for your reply.
Since last 1 month I was stucked at this stage even I tried to post into forums but no success with plethora of replies.
I should have opened a ticket earlier.
Thanks, Sanchit Gupta
Can you provide the complete message? The one in the description looks like an incomplete manual copy. Also the listing of the OVA file contents wouldn't be superfluous.
