Reported by: musi Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 6.1.22

Guest type: Linux Host type: Mac OS X

Description

I have set up new and settings in virtual box and whenever I click the start button . It shows the following command every time I tried.

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

Make sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully.

where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.

Then , I uninstalled the virtual box and removed it. I reboot my computer and downloaded again but it doesn't worked on mine. See if it works on yours.

If virtual box closed unexpectedly then,

The virtual machine 'kali linux' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1) pops us.

You must specify a machine to start, using the command line.

Usage: VirtualBoxVM --startvm <name|UUID> Starts the VirtualBox virtual machine with the given name or unique identifier (UUID).

The allow button may shows up in your system preferences only after 30 min of installation of virtual box. If you still get problem , uninstall virtual box and remove all files associated to it . Then , install again from official page and click allow button.Hope, the attachments would probably help.

I started to have the same error today after upgrading to MacOS BigSur 11.5. Before that it was working like a charm.

Besides the information above (same to me) I also have:

Result Code : NS_ERROR_FAILURE(0x80004005)

Component: MachineWreap

Interface: IMachine { 85632c68-b5bb-4316-a900-5eb28d3413df }

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

With 7.0 we dropped all kernel extensions on macOS and rely on Apple's Hypervisor.framework so this is obsolete. If one continues to use 6.1.x (which will be supported still for quite some time) the issue with the kernel drivers remain and on macOS Ventura it won't be possible to run VirtualBox 6.1 at all to my knowledge and 7.0.x must be used.
