Description
Using the CentOS supplied "LTS" 5.4 kernel from the CentOS-x86_64-kernel.repo fails to build VB 6.1 up-to and including most recent testbuild VirtualBox-6.1-6.1.13_139930_el7-1.x86_64.rpm
Build log will be attached.

https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=1028&nbn=9 provides some information and a workaround: ... Simply commenting out #define CONFIG_CC_HAS_ASM_INLINE 1 in autoconf.h allows VirtualBox to build properly and cleanly, so this seems to be the only problem generated currently. ...
I'm not sure this is actually an issue VirtualBox can fix. If not, please feel free to close.

This is a problem outside the scope of VB itself and needs to be solved by the distribution providing the kernel and compiler environment.
