Install of VirtualBox 6.1.4 crashes Sudoers on Ubuntu 18.4.4

When I install VirtualBox 6.1.4 on Ubuntu 18.04.4 the sudoers complex of files is corrupted somehow and the owner of the system can no longer use the sudo command to run as administrator. One example of this is trying to install VirtualBox extensions after installing VirtualBox which always fails on authentication. This behavior survives a reboot.

This happens on a new copy of Ubuntu 18.04 installed on a formatted drive and with no operations on Ubuntu after install and before installing Virtual Box 6.1.4.

Virtualbox does not touch or change the /etc/sudoers file or something in the /etc/sudoers.d directory.

please show/describe exactly what gets broken, how it broke and when. is your installation of the guest additions or the main package on the host?
