Summary: Failed to open a session for the virtual machineFailed to open a session for the virtual machine (hardening error)
  1. It's usually better and faster, if issues get first addressed in the VirtualBox forums, a lot more eyes there. More than 95% of the issues are resolved in the forums, which keeps the developers focusing on the bug fixes and enhancements, and there is no need for another ticket to keep track of. For example, yours is not a bug and someone has to deal with it and close it as "Invalid".

Plus a discussion and analysis on the bug tracker is going to help me, is going to help you, and potentially a future drive-by user or two. Not so in the forums, many more tend to benefit...

  1. Please read really carefully the following FAQ: Diagnosing VirtualBox Hardening Issues for some generic guidelines/ideas. Those are guidelines, you have to use your judgement as to which program might be responsible...
  1. If you still have a problem after reading through the whole thing, please head to the forums, and open a new thread. Please be sure to mention that you came from the bug tracker and include the ticket number.

But, just very quickly, it turns out that you do have a hardening problem indeed:

49f8.3594: supR3HardNtChildWaitFor[1]: Quitting: ExitCode=0x1 (rcNtWait=0x0, rcNt1=0x0, rcNt2=0x103, rcNt3=0x103, 4826 ms, the end);

I would start by completely uninstalling the following, or adding an exception to its "do-not-scan list", for all-things VirtualBox:

49f8.3594:     ProductName:     Kaspersky™ Anti-Virus ®

Hello,

If you start the virtual machine with the green arrow, the error described above appears. If I boot up the virtual machine in Headless mode and after the preview window appears in the virtual box image, I can already press the green arrow, which works well.

Best regards,

Adélio Miranda

  1. Please read really carefully the following FAQ: Diagnosing VirtualBox Hardening Issues for some generic guidelines/ideas. Those are guidelines, you have to use your judgement as to which program might be responsible...

So, which steps did you take based on that linked FAQ?

  1. If you still have a problem after reading through the whole thing, please head to the forums, and open a new thread. Please be sure to mention that you came from the bug tracker and include the ticket number.

Did you open a thread in the forums for this?
