Description

Keeping VBox up to date with apt-get on Linux Mint 19.2 stopped working after VBox 6.0.10. Error message of apt-get update is: N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'contrb/binary-i386/Packages as repository 'https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian bionic InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'i386'

Removing and adding the repo didn't solve the issue

Replying to Xyzzy:

repository 'https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian bionic InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'i386'

This is not a bug, this is by design. VirtualBox removed support for anything 32-bit with 6.0.0 (and later). BTW, there's no way that this stopped working with 6.0.10, this has stopped working long time ago...

Ticket should be closed as [Invalid] or [WontFix].

When you add [arch=amd64] the error message will not show.

The working configuration line is:

deb [arch=amd64] https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian bionic contrib

An update of the Linux distribution page would be helpful. Thx.

I have updated the wiki page with that suggestion under the section name "Debian-based Linux distributions"

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads

for the submitter:
