Description

Hello VirtualBox support team, my username is Darkseid. I am having problems with all of my virtual machines, when I click on the start arrow button on any of my virtual machines, VirtualBox tries to start it, but then a box opens up saying: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine OpenStack Linux and it also says: The configuration constructor in main failed due to a COM error. Check the release log of the VM for further details. (VERR_MAIN_CONFIG_CONSTRUCTOR_COM_ERROR).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: ConsoleWrap Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed} Will you people please, please help me permanently fix this problem I am having? Please reply whenever you can, please and thank you.

The bugtracker is not meant for help, that's what the VirtualBox forums are there for...

  1. It's usually better and faster, if issues get first addressed in the VirtualBox forums, a lot more eyes there. More than 95% of the issues are resolved in the forums, which keeps the developers focusing on the bug fixes and enhancements, and there is no need for another ticket to keep track of. For example, yours is most probably not a bug and someone from the developers has to deal with it and close it as "Invalid".

Plus a discussion and analysis on the bug tracker is going to help me, is going to help you, and potentially a future drive-by user or two. Not so in the forums, many more tend to benefit...

  1. You were supposed to follow these steps when you filed the bug, and provide a VBox.log:

Attach a (full) log file ("Machine" menu/"Show Log" in the main VirtualBox Manager window) straight away to save time for you and for us. The log file contains a lot of useful information about both the host and the guest systems as well as information about what happened during a particular machine run. Please do not cut and paste it.

Unfortunately you didn't fill in the Host/Guest fields, so I don't know where you should be posting, but open a new thread in the Using VirtualBox section of the forums and I'll take care of it. Please be sure to mention that you came from the bug tracker and include the ticket number.

Resolution: invalid
Status: newclosed

No log and no follow up, closing as invalid. Please reopen if still an issue with the most recent VirtualBox release and attach the global VBoxSVC.log and at least one VBox.log of an affected VM.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
