#18750 new defect

Crash / BSOD of Windows 10 host when running any VM

Reported by: egavaldo Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 6.0.8

Description

I used to be able to run my dozen of VM on this Windows 10 Pro PC. But probably after an update, I'm now not able to run any of my VM.

As soon as I start a VM, the VM seems to start then I get the BSOD.

I looked at this issue in the whole bugtracking database but even after disabling completely Hyper-V I still have the problem.

Uninstalled hyper-v from the control panel + through power shell

Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V

command

Replying to egavaldo:

It's usually better and faster, if issues get first addressed in the VirtualBox forums, a lot more eyes there. More than 95% of the issues are resolved in the forums, which keeps the developers focusing on the bug fixes and enhancements, and there is no need for another ticket to keep track of. For example, yours is not a bug and someone from the developers has to deal with it and close it as "Invalid".

Finally, your VBox.log at a size of 704 bytes, is either truncated, or not taken properly. Plus a discussion and analysis on the bug tracker is going to help me, you, and potentially a future drive-by user or two. Not so in the forums, many more tend to benefit...

The forums are full with such reports and many success stories. See https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=82106#p451653 for a list of things to try. Continue this dialog in the forums, as this is not a VirtualBox bug.
