#18181 new defect

Windows guest, Linux host: copying directories from host to guest copies top-level directories only, not contents

Reported by: JN Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 5.2.22
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

Virtual Box test build 5.2.23 Host: Windows 8.1 x64 Guest: Linux Mint 19.1 x64 beta, Cinnamon.

Guest Additions installed. Bidirectional clipboard enabled.

Copying directory D1, with contents directory D2 and file F1, copies only D1.

The same setup, but with a Linux Mint 19.0 host, does not seem to have the problem.

  1. Are you talking about Drag'n'Drop or Shared Folders?
  1. Do you have a file that starts with a period (.)? Any other "weird" names?
  1. Can you provide the "ls -alR" of the most simple case that it fails? We can't possibly know the contents of D1 and F1. You need to provide a reproducible, simple test case.
  1. You were supposed to follow these steps when you filed the bug, and provide a VBox.log:

Attach a (full) log file ("Machine" menu/"Show Log" in the main VirtualBox Manager window) straight away to save time for you and for us. The log file contains a lot of useful information about both the host and the guest systems as well as information about what happened during a particular machine run. Please do not cut and paste it.
