VT-x support always "disabled" in Host-n, OpenSolaris guest

Reported by: ktk Owned by:

Guest type: other Host type: other

Description

After enabling VT-x support in the BIOS my OS/2 guest works fine, when I type host-n in the GUI I do see that VT-x is enabled in both the "Detail" and "Runtime" tab.

OpenSolaris didn't work without VT-x either so I enabled it in the settings of the VM, when I type host-n it tells me that VT-x is disabled in both tabs. However, unlike without VT-x support the OpenSolaris guest is working fine now so I am pretty sure it did enable it. Interestingly I don't see any hints about VT-x in the logs either, see attachment.

I'm running VirtualBox on Ubuntu Host (hardy), VirtualBox version 1.6.2 and OpenSolaris 2008.05

I suspect you didn't enable it properly in the settings dialog. Remember that it's a three state button. (off, use global setting, on)

The log shows that you are not using VT-x.
