Guest OS very limited memory

This has been reported by other users on forum (thread has closed without any correct answer) My case: Ubuntu guest on windows host. Despite allocating and available 1GB free memory. Virtualbox uses only 74mb which has caused a slow emulation and lots of hdd activity.

I believe this whole notion is based on misconception. We are trying to explain it to Mahdi.G at the forums. I expect this to soon be closed as "Invalid", but I will suggest so only after Mahdi.G has completely understood what's going on...

The essence of my question was if you still don't understand how this is supposed to work. Please read my whole question in the forums (link above) and reply there, because I would like to close the thread, and I suspect so would the admins here would like to close the ticket...

Based on the conversation in the forums, and the explanations/clarifications given, this ticket could be closed as "Invalid". The thread was closed as well, same reasoning.
