Win10 Host - E_FAIL (0x80004005)

Good afternoon, since last week i've been trying to launch a VM guest on VirtualBox and i'm not able to do so anymore. I keep getting an immediate error upon launch of any VM or newly created VM. The error states:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine KaliLinux.

The virtual machine 'KaliLinux' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\juanc2\VirtualBox VMs\KaliLinux\Logs\VBoxHardening.log'.

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: MachineWrap Interface: IMachine {85cd948e-a71f-4289-281e-0ca7ad48cd89}

This behavior started occurring since I tried to update to the latest version 5.2.6. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling an older version. I attempted a test build 5.2.7 with no success. Virtual Box is my main tool for forensics lab and this has really slowed me down. Let me know if there's anything i'm missing here.
