Error VBOX_E_OBJECT_IN_USE (0x80BB000C)

Reported by: WoB Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 5.2.6
Keywords: Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Mac OS X

Description

After the last update to version 5.2.6, I started and shut down the Windows 10 VM. Now, I get the error message "Cannot attach medium '...VBoxGuestAdditions.iso': medium is already associated with the current state of machine uuid {50e8410d-...}!."

What does this mean and how can I repair the VM?

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards. WoB

It means that you have a saved state with the ISO attached. You have to discard that state. This is not a bug.

It's usually better and faster, if issues get first addressed in the VirtualBox forums. More than 95% of the issues are resolved over there, which keeps the developers focusing on the bug fixes and enhancements, and there is no need for another ticket to keep track of. For example, yours is most probably not a bug and someone from the developers has to deal with it and close it as "Invalid".

So, if you can, please open a new thread in the Using VirtualBox section of the forums. Please be sure to mention that you came from the bug tracker and include the ticket number.

Sorry - I got confused by the different forums. I'll open a new thread right away in the Using VirtualBox section of the forums. Thanks for pointing this out.

After the discussion in the forums, the situation is now resolved - thanks to socratis - and this ticket can now be closed.
