cannot install virtualbox on OSX 10.12.14

I updated to 10.12.14 and now I cannot install virtualbox.

tried copying over the uninstaller tool and running it with sudo. Restarted and ran again. It didn't help.

The issue was because I still had a folder with my old VMs and it was blocking the install. I deleted it and restarted my computer and it worked.

No, definitely no. 1) Nobody could upgrade with their guests intact, and 2) the installer does not deal/care about that folder.

and restarted my computer and it worked.

That would be the real reason. It's the first suggestion when an installation fails.

So, it seems that it worked, right? Which means the ticket can be closed?
