#16492 new defect

WebEx screen sharing with Windows 10 host causes guest to crash and out of memory error.

Reported by: rbc Owned by:
Component: 3D support Version: VirtualBox 5.1.12
Keywords: webex windows 10 screen sharing 3d acceleration Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

When sharing a screen with Cisco WebEx while running a VirtualBox guest, the guest eventually crashes. The host (Windows 10) complains about running low on memory, and the screen (or both screens) flicker or go blank. Sometimes the host is usable after this but oftentimes it must be rebooted to become functional again.

The issue appears to be related to 3D acceleration. When 2D/3D acceleration is disabled for the Linux guest, the issue goes away.

Host: Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bit (Intel i5, 12 GB RAM) Guest: Linux Mint 17 32 bit

Thx........

I have the same issue if I enable 3D acceleration. My VM screen flickers a lot and then crash.

My host: Windows 10 Pro / i5 6400 / 8GB RAM / Radeon R7 370

My VM: Ubuntu 16.04

I tested with version "5.1.51 r114298 (Qt5.6.2)" and the screen stop flicker, but Google Chrome and Visual Studio Code still doesn't work with "3D acceleration" enabled. All UI become black.
