#16033 new defect

Cannot attach hard drive to VM on 32-bit Windows 7

Reported by: ckossmann Owned by:
Component: other Version: VirtualBox 5.1.6

Description

In VirtualBox 5.1 it is not possible to attach a hard drive to a newly created VM on 32-bit Windows systems (tested with Win7x86).

Steps to reproduce the problem:

  • Create a new virtual machine without a hard drive.
  • Try to attach a hard drive to the SATA-Controller. Attaching the hard drive doesn't succeed because VirtualBox crashes.

Cannot reproduce. I'm using Windows 7 / 32 bit for testing and I was able to attach an existing hard disk as well as attaching a newly created hard disk. Please provide a Windows minidump.
