Description
When running Protel 99SE (an electronic schematic/PCB capture suite) in Virtualbox 5.0.20, clicking on a component to select it with the left mouse button is not recognised for between 500 and 1000 ms. If the mouse is moved within this time the mouse button click is recognised and the component is selected at that point. Otherwise selection only occurs after the time delay.
Protel 99SE is being run in a 32-bit mswindows guest, hosted on 64-bit Linux. Win2k and winxp guests exhibit identical behaviour. The problem occurs regardless of whether guest additions are installed.
A "click" in this context is a mouse button down/up event sequence - not a press and hold.
The problem did not occur in VirtualBox 4.1.x. Testing shows it to be present in all versions of VirtualBox from 4.2.x on, and is independent of whether a 32-bit or 64-bit host OS is in use.
This regression seems to have been introduced at the same time as the problem described in ticket #15376, so it may be another manifestation of a change introduced in that version (perhaps in the way keyboard/mouse events are handled).

Please attach a log file for the virtual machine. Do you have drag and drop enabled, and if so, does disabling it make a difference?
The problem is still apparent in VirtualBox 5.0.24.
Under VirtualBox 5.1.0-RC1 the wait time between clicking and selection might be slightly smaller compared to earlier versions but it is still distracting.
