Please could you try the latest 5.0 Windows test build and check if you still experience the crashes?

Please reopen if still relevant with VBox 5.0.20.

I'm seeing this with 5.0.20 on Oracle Linux 7. The guest is Windows 8.1. I thought I had corrupted it somehow, so reinstalled it into a new disk image. The new install was working fine until it applied the latest Windows updates, then it ended up back in exactly the state described above.

dseven, please attach a VBox.log file from such a VM session.

dseven, if your BSOD has the exact same parameters as written in the description then it looks like this is a Windows problem: Error 0x00000100 means LOADER_BLOCK_MISMATCH according to google, see here. Seems to me like you need to repair your Windows image. Perhaps your Windows guest update did not successfully finish?

I found this, and was able to get my original image to boot again - it backed out some Windows updates as it came up. I'm still not entirely sure whether or not this is a VBox issue, but I suppose we can close it again for now.

I haven't been able to work on this problem for some time. I tested using VirtualBox 5.0.22 and still see the same problem. I tried removing Microsoft update KB3146723 from the applied updates and still see the problem (or MS Update does not honor the remove KB3146723 request)

I will try and test again with VirtualBox 5.1 release.

Does it works with VirtualBox 5.1 release?

Thank you.
