Replying to matthewls: I had to face the same problem here on CentOS 7 (kernel 3.10.0-327.13.1.el7.x86_64). I also receive a "Guru Meditation -306 (VERR_MORE_DATA)' error. Linux guest work fine.

  • Summary changed from windows 7 64 guest fails with guru in virtualbox 5.0.18 to windows 7 64 guest fails with guru in virtualbox 5.0.18 => fixed in SVN/next maintenance release

Thanks for the report and sorry for the regression. This will be fixed in the next maintenance release.

Any work around for now other than reverting to 5.10.16?

Unfortunately no workaround unless you change the storage controller but this might not work with the Windows guest. matthewls, here is a Ubuntu 14.04 test build which is basically 5.0.18 plus the fix for this bug. It affects only the LsiLogic SCSI controller.

LBB, here is a EL7 package for you.

I have similar issue in my VM. Do you have a test build for Windows?

Thank you very much! That was really fast. But before I install the package, will I work together with the 5.0.18 Extension Pack? Or do I need the matching 5.0.19 version (and where do I get it)?

Wow, that was fast, thank you! I'm looking forward to testing it.

Bingo. Working on Ubuntu 14.04.4, 3.11.0-17-generic, Win7 32 bit. Thank you.

Thank you. Is there a Debian Jessie build? I guess I am ok to just wait for the next maintenance release I have downgraded. Do you think you could add this on the changelog for 5.0.18 discribing the situation in which people should not ugprade?

Btw, for Linux distributors: Changeset r60565 contains the fix. Only VMs with the LsiLogic device are affected. Here is a Debian 8 build.

BTW this issue is also occurring with windows 2008 r2 server. reverting back to 5.0.16 was the solution.

comment:14 Changed 7 years ago by frank

A better solution is to use one of our test builds. As I said, only guests are affected which use the LsiLogic controller. No matter which guest.
