vboxmanage crashes when using addencpassword

Description
when i try to start VM with encrypted disk volume via commandline, vboxmanage.exe crashes
i use the following commands :
vboxmanage startvm vmname --type headless
the VM starts and gets paused, waiting for disk encryption password
vboxmanage controlvm vmname addencpassword encid encpassword
vboxmanage crashes
