#14711 new defect

Doubleclicking text and dragging no longer works.

Description

In a Win XP guest, I can no longer do whole-word text selection by doubleclicking and dragging. This normally lets you select chunks of text in whole words, and is standard across the windows GUI.

I have just upgraded from 4.3.20 to 4.3.30 r101610.

Following the installation of 4.3.30, this no longer works. Doubleclicking text selects a whole word, but you cannot extend it by dragging. The drag does nothing. I don't know whether this is a problem in VBoxSvc, or VBoxAdditions, or was caused by a change in how mouse input is handled in the host code.

Unfortunately this is a real productivity killer for me.

If anyone can reproduce this bug, or can't reproduce it, I would be very grateful if you could add your findings to this ticket. Thank you.

I forgot to indicate that the host is running Windows 7 Pro SP1.

I have exactly the same problem with all applications running in my VM.

I am running with Windows 8.1 host and Xubuntu 14.04 guest.

Double click and dragged worked normally in Vbox versions up to and including 4.3.26 In versions 4.3.28 and newer, it stopped working just as Dan described.

To confirm, single click and drag still extends the selection by characters and triple click and drag still extends the selection by lines, just like it should. It is just the double click and drag that no longer extends the selection (at all).

I agree that this is a productivity killer. I have stopped upgrading to newer Vbox versions because of it.

Note that this will soon become a serious problem for me since the latest Windows security updates no longer allow running older Vbox versions!
