Installation fails on Windows 7 trying to access "quick launch" folder

Description

Our company employs a domain policy to direct each user's "Application Data" folder to a network share. Attempting to install VirtualBox 5.0.4 fails when attempting to access the "Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch" sub-folder of "Application Data" because it resets network connections (thereby cutting off access to network shares) prior to accessing that folder. Upon failing to access the quick launch folder the installation fails (giving the user no option to continue even though the problem is minor) and rolls back the installation, leaving the existing host-only ethernet adapter drivers in a corrupted state.

I have tried the following steps to work around this problem:

  1. Tell the installer not to add VirtualBox to the quick launch or start menu. (The installer ignores the user's request and still tries to access the quick launch folder)
  2. Tell the installer not to install the network device drivers. (The installer resets network connections even though this is unnecessary)

Possible solutions to fix this problem:

  1. Add VirtualBox to the Quick Launch and Start Menu (if the user requests it) *before* resetting network connections; or
  2. After installing the network device drivers, ensure that network connections are properly re-established before attempting to access the Quick Launch and Start Menu folders; or
  3. Give the user the option of continuing with the installation even if adding VirtualBox to the Quick Launch and Start Menu folders fails.

The same problem occurs when attempting to upgrade to version 4.3.30. I would really like to upgrade to a more recent version of VirtualBox (I'm stuck on 4.3.26) but I can't because I simply can't install any newer version.
