Description

Hi!

I'm trying to run Siemens WinAC RTX 2010 on Windows XP SP3 Pro English guest. It installs and works fine, but this software needs some specific network cards to be enabled to work with network. The supported network cards by Siemens WinAC RTX 2010:

Intel Gigabit CT (chip set: Intel I82574L) Intel 2-Port PCIe (chip set: Intel I82571EB) Intel Pro/1000 PL (chip set: Intel 82573L) Intel Pro/1000 GT (chip set: Intel 82541PI) Intel Gigabit (chip set: 82571EB)

But none of these network cards are supported by Virtualbox.

So, Can the Virtualbox development team add support to one or two network cards from this list?

I don't know the effort to extend the existing E1000 implementation to support one of these chips. At the moment the implementation supports 82540EM, 82543GC and 82545EM. Are you sure that none of these chips work with the software? Otherwise I doubt that we can invest time to implement a feature for a very limited user base (for free).

Yes, because:

1) I tested all network adapters from Virtualbox. 2) The engineering software has warning about, listing all the network adapters that a compatible. This is the software description:

"PROFINET connection for WinLC RTX; for Intel Gigabit CT (chip set: Intel I82574L), Intel 2-Port PCIe (chip set: Intel I82571EB), Intel Pro/1000 PL (chip set: Intel 82573L), Intel Pro/1000 GT (chip set: Intel 82541PI), Intel Gigabit (chip set: 82571EB) and on-board Ethernet interface SIMATIC PC 4x7B, 6x7B, 8x7B, 427C, 477C and 547C; PROFINET IO controller; supports RT; PROFINET CBA; TCP/IP transport protocol; firmware V4.6"

I don't know about the effort to implement this, but least I'll try :)
