No files for DOS applications in VBox shared folder

Description
A DOS application (Foxpro, XtreeGold) can't read list of files in a shared folder. Windows app can see all files. This problem is properly described in https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/8551 - but there is no solution.
Host (32 bite): Windows 8, Windows 10 Guest (32 bite): Win XP
