Description
In the Debian Jessie and Wheezy /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules, network interfaces for VM, including VirtualBox, are explicitly not given persistent names. This can have the effect, at least on the new Jessie VM with two NIC I was trying to set up yesterday, of switching the network interfaces names randomly at boot. Either it was random, or there was a malevolent intelligence in the virtual machine that just did not want me to get any sleep. One line in the Networking section of the VirtualBox manual suggesting explicit udev rules for a Debian VM with multiple NIC would not hurt.
Sorry, this is not a VirtualBox specific problem and it's not humanly possible for us to keep track of this kind of quirks for all guest OSes.
