#14289 new defect

Drag and drop failing from vm to host

Reported by: ctrl Owned by:
Component: guest additions Version: VirtualBox 5.0.0
Keywords: dnd drag and drop error Cc:
Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description

With latest Virtualbox 5.0 r101573 and updated guest additions, Host Win7, Guest XP, I'm able to drop files from host to vm but not the opposite.

I get a "Drag and drop error from guest (VERR_INVALID_PARAMETER)." followed by VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005), component GuestWrap, interface IGuest {13a11514-402e-022e-6180-c3944de3f9c8}

I have the same VirtualBox setup, host Win7, guest XUbuntu v14.04.

I get the exact same message when I try dragging a file from the guest VM desktop to the host. This is 100% repeatable. Dragging files from the guest to the host never works.

Given that this is broken on both WinXP and Linux guests, please can devs check which guests this was tested with and *did* work? Or if it's specific to the host and is broken on Win7 generally, then which hosts this was tested with? Not for a witch-hunt, but to work out how testing needs to be tightened up.

Edit: Given that this happens 100% of the time, if anyone wants me to set up with debug logging, let me know.
