#13948 new enhancement

Host only interfaces in linux host are being deleted after system reboot.

Reported by: PRANEETH MANNEM Owned by:
Component: network/hostif Version: VirtualBox 4.2.24
Keywords: hostonly interface reboot Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: all

Description

I am using virtualbox verion 4.2.26. I create some hostonly interfaces(vboxnetxx) to communicate from host to guest. When the system is rebooted all these hostonly interfaces are being removed (even though the virtual machines exist) and I am not able to communicate with my machines. I observed that all the info in virtualbox.xml file is being removed. Please let me know if it is a desired functionality or a bug.

Which package are you using (exact package name)?

I am using 4.2.26r95022 (VirtualBox-4.2-4.2.26_95022_sles11.0-1.x86_64.rpm) The scenario is I have 2 users 'U1' and 'U2' on SLES11 machine. I have created some hostonly interfaces with both the users. I can see those interfaces in netstat -rn also. After reboot when I logged in with 'U1' I could see(vboxmanage list hostonlyifs) the interfaces created by 'U1' only(interfaces by all the users must be shown here). I switched to 'U2' and here I can see all the interfaces(created by 'U1' and 'U2'). Then I switched back to 'U1', This time I am able to see all the interfaces(unlike before). Any way I am not able to find any vboxnet hostonly interface in netstat -rn after reboot. I have reproduced the scenario with 4.3.18_96516 also.
