Description

On Mac OS 10.9.4 (late 2013 mac book pro) with VirtualBox 4.3.16 various client OSs (Win7, Win XP, Gentoo Linux), when the client is running full screen using Mac OSX multiple desktops, the client OS screen is completely gray when reaching the desktop by swiping on magic mouse or touch pad. The desktop screen loads fine when clicking the vboxVM icon on the springboard or when selecting the desktop from the mission control app.

This did not occur with Virtualbox v4.3.14.

Possibly related to Change set#52368 "fix white window on full screen."

I have the same issue.

There is post : https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=63574 and the workaround works for me

  • 1 : Go to VirtualBox Guest's Settings >> General tab >> Advanced
  • 2 : Unchecked the Minitool-bar options in the Guest

Another ticket seems similar : Ticket #13394

The workaround (uncheck Minitool-bar) works for me too.

aurelboss's work-around worked for me. I'm on a Late 2013 15 inch Retina Macbook Pro running Windows 7 (only when I have to) in a full screen VM.

Confirmed solution for a Macbook Air on an OS X 10.9.4.

Thanks a lot!

Confirmed Aurelboss' fix too.

VirtualBox 4.3.16
Mac OSX 10.9.4 Host
Win 7 Guest

Uncheck both options under mini tool bar. Restart VM.

But now you can't access the mini-tool bar. Bummer.

I noticed that moving the mouse to the top of the gray screen (causing the Mac OS Virtual Box Menu bar to appear) also will redraw the whole screen--even with the mini toolbar enabled.

Moving the mouse to the bottom (causing the Mac OS Springboard to appear) does not redraw the whole screen--leaving it gray.
