Description
I recently noticed that I still have many versions of old Guest Additions drivers in my system directories. To get a good testing condition, I cleaned all my system folders from files starting with "vbox". Then I installed the 4.3.12 Guest Additions, rebooted, uninstalled them and rebooted again. On my Windows 7 SP1 x64 guest everything was fine afterwards, I couldn't find any files starting with "vbox". But note that I didn't install the 3D (WDDM) drivers there.
But on my Windows 8.1 x64 guest many files are still there after the uninstall. It seems like they are all related to the WDDM display drivers, which can't be disabled during the installation of the Windows 8 Guest Additions.
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox Guest Additions still contains 23 files (VBoxD3D9wddm*, VBoxDispD3D*, VBoxOGL*, VBoxVideoW8*, wined3dwddm*)
C:\Windows\System32 still contains at least 2 Virtual Box files (VBoxD3D9wddm.dll and wined3dwddm.dll)
C:\Windows\SysWOW64 still contains at least 10 Virtual Box files (VBoxD3D9wddm*, VBoxDispD3D*, VBoxOGL*, wined3dwddm*)
My host is Windows 7 SP1 x64 if that matters.
Please reopen if still relevant with a recent VirtualBox release.
