  • Summary changed from When launching a VM on Win 8.1 64bit, I get the error VERR_CPUM_TOO_MANY_CPUID_SUBLEAVES to 4.3.8: VERR_CPUM_TOO_MANY_CPUID_SUBLEAVES when launching VM [FIXED in SVN]

Thanks to your reports we've been able to come up with a workaround to deal with this unspecified CPUID behavior. We'll try get the fix out ASAP.

I found another fix for me. My laptop had Hyper-V enabled in the BIOS (I am unable to disable it due to corporate limitations). I found that doing the following and rebooting my laptop allows the VM's to run:

Hope this helps....

  1. Open Hyper-V manager and "stop service" on the right panel,
  1. Start a command prompt with administrator rights and execute the following command:

to disable hyper-v bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

to enable hyper-v bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

  1. Both Operations require restarting your computer.
