Google Chrome running on OSX Mavericks freezes VirtualBox 4.3 running a Windows 7 guest

Description
As per title - when using Google Chrome on OS X Mavericks (host system), VirtualBox 4.3 running Windows 7 freezes for long periods of time, although it does appear to eventually respond to clicks and other inputs rather than being completely locked. Closing Google Chrome on the host OSX operating system returns VirtualBox to normal performance.
