Reported by: Rony Shapiro Owned by:
Component: network Version: VirtualBox 4.2.18
Keywords: network Cc:
Guest type: Linux Host type: Windows

Description

After upgrading VBox to 4.2.18, the network interfaces are no longer available. Trying to start a powered-off host results in the following:

Could not start the machine debian64-7 because the following physical network interfaces were not found:

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (adapter 1), Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 (adapter 2)

You can either change the machine's network settings or stop the machine.

Opening the Network Setting results in the attached screenshot. Note that there are no devices to choose from.

Closing the VM resulted in the following:

Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
SessionMachine
Interface:
ISession {12f4dcdb-12b2-4ec1-b7cd-ddd9f6c5bf4d}

Note that this VM worked flawlessly before upgrading. Nothing else was changed in the system configuration.

Please uninstall VirtualBox completely and re-install it. This must be the result of some screwup caused by the VirtualBox network filter driver.
