Component: other Version: VirtualBox 4.2.16

Description

Using VirtualBox 4.2.16 and Wacom tablet (any driver)does not function. I've tried 2 computers with different tablets. The OS running within functions Ubuntu / MAC no problem but selecting anything on the main menu of VirtualBox does not work. Cannot even use a speedkey function ( Alt-F, Alt-???). If there is a solution I could not find.

Any help would terrific.

It will be helpful to see the logs from your VM. Have you tried to disable mouse integration before using Wacom's pointing device and perhaps you need filters?

And in addition to the log file which you should attach, do I understand you correctly that you can use the tablet within the guest operating system but not to access the menus in the virtual machine window? Regarding the "speedkey" ("host key combinations"?), check what your host key (or key combination) is currently. It may be right Alt rather than left Alt.

You understand correctly. I can hover the pointer over the items - Machine / View / Devices / Help and the highlight as buttons but clicking does nothing. The speed keys Alt (L/R) does not work either. I can plug a regular USB Mouse pointer into the computer to access the menu items but 90% of work is done through the Intuos Graphire / Bamboo Tablet. I hoped that the new release of VB may have addressed the issue (v4.3.1) but it did not - :(.

Not sure which Log you speak of to send?

The log file would be the log produced by a run of a virtual machine. Is the Wacom tablet connected to the host or the guest? If the first, which I assume, then it sounds more like a system or driver bug than a VirtualBox one. (By the way, you didn't mention your host operating system, but it looks from the screen shot like Windows 7.) If the second then you shouldn't be able to reach the host menus.

Still not sure what you mean by "speed keys", is this something Wacom-specific?

George, please look at chapter of user manual for more details how to deal with log files on you OS.

connected to the host - not sure of the driver issue though. I have had problems in the past very similar. The Wacom is(Graphire 3 or Bamboo) is our pointing device instead of USB Mouse. It allows us to do point - click - pen when in graphics programs. Host operating system is Windows 7. Speed keys like Ctrl-S Ctrl-F etc..depressing the Alt key and the first letter of the menu choices - such as in VirtualBox hitting the combination of Alt-M should drop Machine so I could then use the keyboard arrows to manipulate.

I am using it (Wacom Graphire) at present but I cannot point to the choices (Machine View Devices Help) it does nothing.

As far as I know other people are using Wacom tablets successfully with VirtualBox - could this be something to do with the way your tablet is set up? Does it work with other Qt applications? You might also want to contact Wacom to see if they have any ideas. That would help us, since we don't actually have a tablet here to test with.
