Extension Pack 4.2.12 problem for Ubuntu guest for 'guest additions'

Upgraded to 4.2.12 Virtual Box and then upgraded the 4.2.12 extension packet.

My Ubuntu (12.04) guest does not come up after applying the guest additions and doing a restart, or any kind of start.

Have attached a zip file with information to help with diagnoise of this problem.

• failsafeX-backup-130416051444.tar is from the Ubuntu guest which I was able to obtain when I signed on with a previous version. It is a file giving information about the failure to come up after applying the guest additions

Screenshots:

• The system is running in low-graphics mode - is the Ubuntu screen I get just after applying the new 'guest additions' and perform a restart
• Relevant configuration and log files... - this is the Ubuntu message of where it loaded information pertaining to the failure of Ubuntu coming up. I copied the file to my Windows guest and included in the zip file attached to this ticket.
• I noted a prompt prior to the Ubuntu attempting to start up (and failing). It seems to mention the PIIX4 chipset... On the chipset selections, in Virtual Box, I only see PIIX3 chipset selection - no PIIX4 setting... could this have anything to do with the problem?

Duplicate of #11709. The problem is not in the Extension Pack but in the Guest Additions.
