Network Adapter Failure

Reported by: waltjr Owned by:
Component: network Version: VirtualBox 4.2.12

Guest type: Windows Host type: Windows

Description

Was running 4.2.8 and had IE working. Updated to 4.2.10, then to 4.2.12. My IE in the Guest (Windows 7 Ultimate-32-bit) stopped working. My Host is Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. I tried switching to Internal Network, then Host-only Adapter. Nothing worked. Finally switched to NAT, and this got my IE working again. NOTE: I am using a Wireless adapter on the Host system, but even when trying to use the Wired adapter, it did not work.

NOTE: All of this happened because I was trying to get my Guest to let me print on my Host USB printer. It was not working, so I thought perhaps the upgrade to 4.2.12 would help. It did not, but I can still print to printers on the Wireless network.

Very unclear what's your actual setup and what does not work. With NAT you will be able to access the network outside your VM but to access the network of your host you should use bridged networking. Also, there were almost no changes related to networking between 4.2.8 and 4.2.12 so to me it seems that this is really a problem of your setup and not a VirtualBox bug.

Anyway, a VBox.log file of a VM session where network does not work for you as well as a VBox.log for a VM session where the network works as expected could help a bit.
