I tried to load the Windows 8 Release Preview x64 ISO file, and it came up with this error:

Failed to open the CD/DVD image C:\Users\Parker & Carmen\Downloads\Windows8-ReleasePreview-64bit-English.iso.

Could not get the storage format of the medium 'C:\Users\Parker & Carmen\Downloads\Windows8-ReleasePreview-64bit-English.iso' (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED).

Result Code: VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005) Component: Medium Interface: IMedium {53f9cc0c-e0fd-40a5-a404-a7a5272082cd} Callee: IVirtualBox {c28be65f-1a8f-43b4-81f1-eb60cb516e66}

Specks are the normal for Windows 8 x64. I JUST created the virtual machine. It won't take it. Help?

Have you checked the the SHA1 hash of the ISO is correct?

comment:2 Changed 8 years ago by Parker8283

Ok, not to sound completely stupid, but how would I check the hash on the ISO file?

Oh! Actually, The x64 ISO I downloaded only seems to be 2 GB for some reason, even though it's supposed to be 3.3 GB. Let me try re-downloading it and loading it again.

use a downloadmanager like to avoid that the downlaod stops. Also check with tools like or this the hash.
