Description

I have not found this exact error in the forums yet: please help. I know it isn't just hardware, because it won't even allow me to run any operating system regardless. There's got to be something not installed somewhere- I have reinstalled Virtualbox twice.

Here's the error message:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Mac Lion.

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUPLIB_WORLD_WRITABLE).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: Console Interface: IConsole {1968b7d3-e3bf-4ceb-99e0-cb7c913317bb}

Duplicate of #8410. The solution is posted there. Actually this is a permission problem on your host. VirtualBox does some sanity checks before it starts. It must not be possible for a normal user to change the content of some VirtualBox system library because this would have an impact on the system security. This means also that no parent directory of the VirtualBox system libraries must be writable by non-root users and symlinks are also prohibited.
