Sounds like a bug in configure.

The above issue can also be solved by adding
VBOX_MACOS_10_5_WORKAROUND=1 to the environment, kmk command line,
or LocalConfig.kmk. I know, configure should check for how your glib and
libidl are linked, but we haven't got around to it yet.

3.0.x requires openssl / libcrypto. Not quite sure how we're solving
this on the other platforms, but it's the same kind of configure slip up
that you've been seeing with libcurl I'm afraid.

We will address these configure issues but it may take a little time due
to the summer vacation season.
