May I suggest that Juergen's patch be added as a 6th "attached to:" type on 
the interface and VBoxManage?

Maybe like:

Attached to: Not Attached
             NAT
             Bridge Adapter
             Internal Network
             Host-only Network
             TAP Adapter
             TUN Adapter
             or TAP/TUN Adapter
