[vbox-dev] Current console preview

One feature I would like is to be able to get a current preview of the 
Virtual Machine. I've looked through the code and can sort of see how 
the Dock icon preview works. What I see is the ability to get to the 
Console frame buffer from a XPCOM application (say VBoxManage) and then 
dump the current view into a format/size requested. There is the 
VBoxHeadless video capture component however this is not single frames 
at a set point in time.

Is this feasible? If so, is there anyone at Sun/Virtual Box who can take 
a moment to give me some pointers as I would like to make a go at 
implementing this.
