#9744 new defect

Cancelling out of VM creation deletes entire mount point / junction

Reported by: Mike Owned by:

Description

On a Windows 7 64bit host, I have VirtualBox installed on Drive C:. My VM "library" is a partition mounted via D:\Virtual. If I start to create a new VM and cancel at any point beyond the "VM Name and OS Type" dialog, the mount point "D:\Virtual" will be destroyed. The data on the partition remains intact and the mount point can be recreated.

This appears to only happen if there are no other VMs existing. I have tested:

No VMs, create 1st VM, cancel out of process = mount point deleted
1 VM, create 2nd VM, cancel out of process = mount point OK

Additional note, my destination directory for my VMs is under the mount point and not the mount point itself: D:\Virtual\VBOX_VM

I will continue to test, but if this hold true, the issue is not as serious as I first thought.
