VirtualBox runs fine on 2.6.23.1-6. You can compare patchsets of -6 and -8 here:

http://archlinux.org/packages/13318/ http://archlinux.org/packages/14180/

I also attached a patch that might be relevant and has been added in -8.

Very strange. The only reason for that BUG_ON I can imagine is that Linux somehow clears the function field of the timer we pass to the mod_timer() function.

comment:3 by Romashka, 17 years ago

This is because of CONFIG_TIMER_STATS option enabled in -8 kernel package, which requires rebuilding of all kernel modules.
Are you using virtualbox-ose or compile virtualbox_bin package from Unsupported?
I'm the maintainer of virtualbox packages in community repo, virtualbox-modules package will be rebuilt in a hour. This should fix this "bug".

Hello!

Thanks for your feedback, now it's all clear ;-)

I'm using virtualbox_bin from AUR.

comment:5 by Romashka, 17 years ago

Hm, then you should rebuild vboxdrv module. ;-) Note that because the -8 kernel package you're using is in Testing repo - community packages will be rebuilt only after it hits Core. Meanwhile users of virtualbox-ose package can get updated virtualbox-modules from http://archlinux.org/~roman/

The kernel26-2.6.23.8-1 is in Core now, I will rebuild virtualbox-modules in Community repo in ~5 hours and report here - if it works fine then this bug can be closed.

The updated package works fine here. Please close this bugreport.
