#8726 closed defect (fixed)
openSUSE-11.4 686 extremely sluggish and very slow to boot
Reported by: | Perry G | Owned by: | |
---|---|---|---|
Component: | VMM | Version: | VirtualBox 4.0.4 |
Keywords: | Dirty Patch | Cc: | |
Guest type: | Linux | Host type: | Linux |
Description
Host is Ubuntu-10.04 LTS x86_64 (not VT-x)
VirtualBox is 4.0.4 Released version with Extension Pack and guest additions installed in the guest. I suspect the dirty patches not being applied as the cause but can not seem to get a stable enough install to diagnose. As a note any version (SVN) that I have tried beyond this is failing to work properly at all ( as in once booted it freezes & must be reset or power cycled to close ).

Perry, r36669 contains a fix. If possible please test if it fixes your problem and if you observe regressions with any other guest (VT-x disabled of course). Thank you!

Yes this does fix the issue. compiling to latest from SVN and installing the latest compiled GAs from svn brings openSUSE-11.4 back into the fold including Gnome desktop effects. I have not made changes to the 4.0.4 release version but suspect a maintenance release soon and unless you want me to I will not waste the effort. Attaching a new log file so you can see the results.
