#6164 closed defect (worksforme)

<my virtual machine>.xml emptied after monthly MS Windows update while VBox running

Description

Last night Microsoft Windows Update ran while I had a virtual machine (called HP-R2) left running. The Windows Update needed a restart and upon logging in this morning it turned out that the file HP-R2.xml in .VirtualBox/Machines was empty. Hence I could not start the VM (message something like '<' expected).

Luckily I could create another VM (with mostly the same settings, I hope) and point it to use the HP-R2.vdi file in .VirtualBox/HardDisks.

This happened to me also exactly 1 month ago (MS Update runs every 2nd Wednesday of the month?)

No idea what was wrong. Perhaps the host disk full? Please reopen if still relevant.
