Description

I installed Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 as the guest OS.

I previously used PCnet-FAST III as the network adapter for guest operating system.

Now, I would like to try other network adapter.

According to intel download site for Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17640&ProdId=871&lang=eng, the driver for Windows 2000 available for download.

I had selected Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter in Network setting, and reinstalled VirtualBox Guest Additions in the Guest Operating System.

But, installation of VirtualBox Guest Additions does not install the driver of Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter for Windows 2000.

This is the expected behavior. We are not allowed to redistribute the Intel network driver. So you have to download the drivers yourself and install the manually. Download the drivers to your host and either use a shared folder to access the host drive from your guest or create an .iso image containing the drivers. You can then mount the image to your guest. Or use the PCNet emulation to download the Intel driver, install it, shutdown the guest, select the Intel device and start your guest.
