Start button in Windows 7 does not work in full screen mode

I have Windows 7 RC build 7100 installed in a guest system (32bit). The host is openSUSE 11.1 x86_64. VirtualBox 3.0.6. The system is a 3GiB Acer laptop with a dual core AMD processor. The screen is 1280x800 pixels 24 bit. I have an application, Panasonic HDWriter, which claims to need a screen of at least 1024x786, but it only works in full screen mode. However all icons in the taskbar of Windows 7, when clicked on do not work. Hovering on them shows some text. For the Start button this is Start, however clicking on the start button does not give the Start Menu. I have to disable Full Sreen <Right Ctrl>+F to make this button active. After that I get a complaint from the application that the screen is not 1024x786. The same is true for the other icons in the Taskbar.
